I was talking to a friend several years back, a friend that I would consider to be one of the best fathers that I have ever known. His kids are grown now, but I remember asking him…
“If you could change 1 thing about your parenting, what would it be?”
He didn’t hesitate. He looked me directly in the eyes and said…
“I wish I had taught them more about Jesus.”
So now it’s your turn. Your turn to answer “the” question.
“If you could change 1 thing about your parenting, what would it be?”
Do you wish you taught Jesus more, screamed less, had more fun, cared less about the house, didn’t work so much, didn’t always act like an idiot at your sons basketball game, more of a friend, less of a friend, stood your ground, stopped smoking around your kiddos and watched more Simpsons with your kids!!?! Just kidding on the last one!
We all have these parenting ambitions, desires and unwritten goals that we want to achieve with our kiddos.
Character qualities we desire to teach the fam. Vacations we want to take with our kids. Devotions we want to impart. Monthly date nights that we always skip but desire to have. Leadership skills were hungry to develop.
I think you get the idea! We have so many things we want to impart, but so little time to get it all imparted.
So how does a parent actually make parenting progress?
Here goes…
This is a powerful, never heard before, innovative technique, that (for only $19.99) all parents should try!!
Are you ready??
Get your Big Chief Pad and #2 pencil because you’re not gonna wanna miss out on this one!!
SET A GOAL!!
Wow!!
Did…you… just… hear… that?
Let me say that one more time.
SET A GOAL!!
I told you this would be a powerful and memorable experience for all.
A bit ridiculous…I get it!
But how many parents actually set goals!!?!
You can sit, stare and be immobilized by your “parenting dreams”,
OR
You can write one goal down for the month of April and make it happen.
You struggle with consistency in family devotions? Set a goal of family devo’s 3 times a week for the month of April.
Don’t focus on any other parenting aspiration…just have the stinkin devo’s!!
You really want to teach your son how to start his own business. Stop dreaming and saying “I should”. Set a goal to sit down with him 2 times a week and impress him with your bizz skills!
Yep!! I know I’m a genius…
But how many parents are actually setting “monthly parenting goals?”
What is 1 goal you can set for the month of April?
