Let us Pray

Today I got an email from the national director of the alumni organization I am a part of as a minister. He was letting me know about a series of prayer events that Rhema (where I went to school…www.rhema.org if you wanna check them out!) was going to be hosting for the upcoming elections. I’m not going to get into specific political ideologies at this time, but I do want to stress the importance of political involvement.

For those of you who may be reading this around the world, and not as citizens of the United States, I want you to know two things:
   1) God cares about the destiny of your country, not just America
   2) What happens in America in the political arena still has great impact around the world.

For those of you reading who are American, I want to say 3 things to you:
    1) You’re not better than anyone else because you are American
    2) God still cares about the destiny and direction of America
    3) The way God moves in the affairs of people and nations is almost always through other people

Therefore, I would encourage you to pray for your country. And if you aren’t a US citizen, pray with us for ours as well. Elections are important, not just because of the political direction of a nation, but for the moral and ethical direction of a nation as well. True leaders don’t just have great political ideas, they have moral fiber. We need that in governments around the world, and we need it here in America.

That is why, even if you aren’t near Tulsa, OK (as I am not), I am posting this schedule of prayer events and asking you to consider taking some time to pray- for the leaders who will be elected, the leaders who will be staying in place, and the people of the United States. Elected leaders represent the people who elect them, but when people fail to be involved in the process they surrender the power they have to influence their leaders.

And so, I pray not only for leaders who will have vision, direction, morality, character, integrity…but also for voters who will have passion to let their vote be counted and their voice be heard. So consider taking time to pray…and to vote, if you are able!

Pastor Hagin desired that we as a congregation would come together and fast and pray for our nation and the upcoming elections.  These are the approved dates for each of the Thursday night sessions:
